Taro Daniel has clinched his first title since 2020 by lifting the trophy of the second edition of the NSW Open held at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre in Australia. The No. 3 seed of the $80,000 ATP Challenger Tour hard-court event defeated sixth-seeded home favourite Marc Polmans 6-2, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
Daniel battled his way to the championship match with wins in the bottom half of the draw over fellow Japanese Yasutaka Uchiyama, Luke Saville of Australia, No. 5 seed Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan and second-seeded Australian Rinky Hijikata.
Daniel converted five of his 11 break-point chances in the final and won 55 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 45 minutes.

By winning his eighth ATP Challenger Tour career title, the 30-year-old earned $10,840 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
