QUIMPER, December 30, 2023
Over the editions and with growing success, the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale has earned a strong reputation. The tournament has become a significant and well-regarded event in Cornouaille, known and recognized not only in sports but also economically.
From January 22 to 28, the hard-court tournament returns for its 15th edition. Its upgrade to an ATP Challenger Tour 125 event in 2023 places it as the 9th ranked tournament in France. Following Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Montpellier, Metz, Aix en Provence, and Bordeaux, Quimper becomes a prominent fixture in French tennis.
“It’s a great source of pride for the city of Quimper and its surrounding area to welcome back the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale, at its peak for its 15th edition. Indeed, the Quimper area now hosts one of the biggest French tennis tournaments, affirming our status as a sporty and active city,” said Isabelle Assih, Mayor of Quimper and President of Quimper Bretagne Occidental.
“Starting from 2024, the Open firmly establishes itself in the ATP Challenger 125 category by securing a three-year license from international bodies. This achievement, made possible through the support of public entities and private partners, demonstrates the level of trust between the ATP, the French Tennis Federation, and the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale,” said Yves-Marie Rolland, President of the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale.
