Peruvian teenager Gonzalo Bueno has reached his first quarterfinal on the ATP Challenger Tour. The 19-year-old knocked out No. 5 seed Renzo Olivo of Argentina 7-5, 6-2 in Thursday’s second round of the Challenger AAT de TCA 1 being held this week at the Tenis Club Argentino in Buenos Aires.
World No. 415 Bueno, who battled his way into the main draw of the $41,000 clay-court event with two wins in the qualifying, saved five of the seven break points he faced and capitalized on five of his own eight break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 43 minutes.

Up next for Bueno will be Max Houkes from the Netherlands, who rallied past Argentine qualifier Matias Franco Descotte 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in two hours and 57 minutes.
In other action, Brazilian qualifier Mateus Alves knocked off eighth-seeded Ukrainian Oleksii Krutykh 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-3 in three hours and nine minutes, the longest encounter of the day. The 22-year-old will next take on his compatriot Joao Lucas Reis da Silva, a 7-5, 6-0 winner over Pedro Sakramento of Brazil. The match lasted one hour and 28 minutes.
