NONTHABURI/STARNBERG, January 13, 2024
Valentin Vacherot has claimed back-to-back ATP Challenger Tour titles in Thailand. Following his triumph at last week’s Bangkok Open I, the 25-year-old from Monaco lifted the trophy of this week’s Bangkok Open II hosted by the the Law Tennis Association Of Thailand in Nonthaburi.
Nonthaburi, a province in central Thailand, is a vibrant and dynamic region that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity. Located just north of Bangkok, Nonthaburi is known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and a burgeoning urban scene.
Vacherot defeated Frenchman Manuel Guinard 7-5, 7-6(5) in Saturday’s singles final of the $82,000 hard-court event between two unseeded players. The World No 219 advanced to the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw over Indian qualifier Ramkumar Ramanathan, sixth-seed US-American Tennys Sandgren, top seed Dennis Novak of Austria and Briton Arthur Fery.
Vacherot fired 11 aces in the final and broke Guinard’s serve three times to secure victory in two hours and one minute.
