The ATP Challenger Tour came to San Miguel de Tucuman for the first time as players gathered for the inaugural AAT Challenger Santander Edicion Tucuman last week. In an all-Argentine final on Sunday, Andrea Collarini defeated fifth favourite Hernan Casanova 6-4, 7-6(3) to clinch the title on home soil.
The No. 3 seed of the $41,000 clay-court event battled his way to the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw over his compatriots Tomas Farjat, Lorenzo Joaquin Rodriguez, No. 6 seed Gonzalo Villanueva and wild card entry Lautaro Midon.
Collarini converted three of his eight break-point chances and won 53 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in two hours and 15 minutes.

“I am going through the best moment of my life,” Collarini said afterwards.
By lifting his third ATP Challenger Tour career trophy, his first of the season, the 32-year-old left-hander collected $5,650 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
The tournament was held at the Tucuman Lawn Tennis Club in San Miguel de Tucuman, a city located in northwestern Argentina, in the province of Tucuman. It is the capital of the province and one of the most important cities in the region. Popularly known as “The Garden of the Republic,” this city has a rich history and a vibrant culture.
Founded in 1565 by Diego de Villarroel, San Miguel de Tucuman has a Spanish colonial legacy reflected in its architecture, especially in the historic downtown area. Among its notable sites is the Casa Historica de la Independencia, where the Declaration of Independence of Argentina was signed in 1816.
