“I feel great, of course. I came in with high expectations of myself. I’ve had spectacular weeks here in Mexico; it’s a great tournament in Acapulco, the facilities, the conditions, and especially the people who have treated me well. Perfect organization; it was one of the best stops on the tour,” Mpetshi Perricard said after his victory.
He earned $22,370 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points, which propelled him to a new career-high Ranking of World No. 124.
The GNP Seguros Arena hosted the second edition of the tournament, which offered a total prize purse of $164,000. More than 7,000 spectators attended the event throughout the week.
“It was a week of great matches, culminating in this magnificent final. Congratulations to our champion! I want to first thank our sponsors who have always supported us: GNP Seguros, Telcel Oppo, Mundo Imperial, Caliente, the Government of the State of Guerrero, and Isdin. Thank you for your trust in the players and our line judges, ball boys, and operations team. But most importantly, thank you to the fans because without you, it wouldn’t be possible. Always with you, Acapulco!” said Guillermo Diez, director of the GNP Seguros Tennis Open.
