Mariano Navone of Argentina has captured the title of the Sardegna Open. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 175 clay-court tournament in Cagliari defeated second-seeded Italian Lorenzo Musetti 7-5, 6-1 in a final between to Top 50 players on Sunday afternoon.
In front of packed stands on Center Court, Navone converted six of his 13 break-point chances and won 57 per cent of the total points played to succeed in one hour and 47 minutes.

“The match was much more fiercely contested than the score might suggest,” explained Navone. “But I did well to fight for every point. The last part of the first set was crucial. Lorenzo raised his level, but I managed to stay on my path. In the second set, I think he experienced a slight drop, even mentally. I close out a splendid week. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and I’ll carry great memories from Cagliari with me.”
World No. 41 Navone, who claimed a season-leading five ATP Challenger Tour titles in 2023 and has made a statement on the ATP Tour this season, with final appearances in Rio de Janeiro and Bucharest, earned €30,330 in prize money as well as 175 ATP Ranking points.
