Collarini Clinches Santa Fe Challenger Title

Andrea Collarini captured the title of the second edition of the AAT Challenger Santander Edicion Santa Fe. The No. 7 seed of the $41,000 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event emerged victorious from the all-Argentine singles final, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Facundo Mena on Sunday.

Collarini advanced to the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw beating local wild card entry Alejo Lorenzo Lingua Lavallan, Juan Baptiste Torres of Argentina, Matheu Pucinelli de Almeida of Brazil and his compatriot Gonzalo Villanueva.

The 32-year-old lefty Collarini, who was born in New York, withstood five aces and broke Mena’s serve five times to secure victory in one hour and 20 minutes.

“I am very pleased, playing at home in front of my family and friends. I am very happy,” said Collarini.

By winning his fourth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his second of the season following his triumph on home soil in San Miguel de Tucuman, Collarini earned $5,660 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.

The ATP Challenger Tour event was held at the Santa Fe Lawn Tennis Club.
