Defending champion Katie Boulter has advanced to the quarterfinals at the Rothesay Open WTA 250 grass-court tournament in Nottingham on a Wednesday marked by four British singles victories, including wins by Dan Evans, Charles Broom, and Jacob Fearnley in the ATP Challenger Tour 125 event.

Third-seeded Boulter secured a 6-4, 6-3 win over Canadian Rebecca Marino in just an hour and 16 minutes, in what was a relatively straightforward match for the British No.1.

“A lot of it was about staying sharp, going with the flow and serving well – it was a battle,” Boulter said.

“I have some childhood memories here so I always get that warm fuzzy feeling every time I come out here. Being back where it all started reminds me how far I’ve come.”

• Jacob Fearnley wins another all-British clash against Paul Jubb 6-1, 6-7(14), 6-3 to seal a place in his first ATP Challenger quarterfinal. Fearnley had seven match points in an epic second set tie-break before finally sealing the win on his tenth match point.
• Britain’s Billy Harris continues to impress on grass courts as he backs up his run to last week’s Lexus Surbiton Trophy semi-finals by winning his opening match in Nottingham against Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong 6-3, 6-4.
