Stefano Travaglia successfully navigated through a challenging day at the Internazionali di Tennis Città di Todi | Sidernestor Tennis Cup. The top seed of Italy rallied past Argentine alternate Juan Bautita Torres 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in almost three hours in his first-round match followed by a 6-4, 6-4 win over Carlos Lopez Montagud from Spain, securing his place in the quarterfinals of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 event organized by MEF Tennis Events.

“The goal was to spend as little time on court as possible, and I think I managed that,” said Stefano Travaglia shortly after securing his second win of the day in Todi. The player from Ascoli defeated Lopez Montagud on Centre Court in just over an hour and a half and will now face former World No. 57 Gastao Elias of Portugal for a spot in the semifinals.
“Facing Gastao will be a tough match. I know his qualities and his level well. These are the matches that motivate me even more to find my best tennis.” Among the World No. 226’s season goals is also achieving the ranking necessary to play in the US Open qualifiers, the final Grand Slam of the season: “I’m working hard to arrive in top form and well-prepared for Flushing Meadows. I’m close and confident, but I’ll start thinking about it once the upcoming events leading to New York are over.”
