Damir Dzumhur was crowned champion of the RD Open for the second time after 2015. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 clay-court tournament defeated Ecuadorian lucky loser Andres Andrade 6-4, 6-4 in Saturday’s singles final.
Dzumhur book his spot in the championship match with wins in the bottom half of the draw over US-American qualifier Cannon Kingsley, Dmitry Popko from Kazakhstan, No. 5 seed Chun-Hsin Tseng of Chinese Taipei and Argentine Renzo Olivo.
The 32-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina capitalized on five of his 11 break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 41 minutes.

By winning his 12th ATP Challenger Tour career title, a tour-leading fourth of the season following his triumphs in Barletta, Ostrava and Zagreb, Dzumhur pocketed $22,370 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points.
“This place here is very special in my career. After winning here nine years ago, I broke into the top 100, and now I’m back among the best 100 players in the world. I greatly appreciate how they treat me here, and I hope to return next year,” said Dzumhur.
The eighth edition of the RD Open was held at the Santo Domingo Tennis Club, situated in the capital of the Dominican Republic.
