ITF Press Release, August 20, 2024
The 2025 and 2026 editions of the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals will be hosted in Prostejov, Czechia, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced today.
The 2025 Finals will take place on 4-9 August next year, with the 2026 Finals scheduled for 3-8 August 2026.
The event has been hosted at the Tenisovy Klub Prostejov since 1999 and will return to the famous venue for the next two seasons. TK Prostejov also hosts the Czech Open on the ATP Challenger Tour and has been the venue for Czech Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup ties.
World Junior Tennis is the ITF’s international team competition for players aged 14-and-under, with regional qualifying events around the world taking place each year before the top 16 boys’ teams and top 16 girls’ teams compete for the title at the Finals in Prostejov.
Many of the world’s top players have represented their nations at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals, with previous competitors in Prostejov including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek.
At the 2024 Finals, Czechia’s girls’ team won their third consecutive title at the event, coming from behind to defeat USA. The victory was the Czechs’ fifth girls’ World Junior Tennis title in last six editions and their eighth in total. In the boys’ event, USA defeated Brazil in the final to win their seventh title and first since 2019.
David Haggerty, ITF President, said: “Prostejov has been an excellent host venue for the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals for a quarter of a century, and we are very pleased that the Finals will return to Prostejov in 2025-26. Some of the sport’s most-exceptional talents have competed on the clay courts of TK Prostejov and I have no doubt that some future stars will compete over the next two years. We thank our colleagues at TK Prostejov and the Czech Tennis Association for their support of this event and we are glad to be able to continue to work together.”
Petra Cernoskova, ITF World Junior Tennis Finals Tournament Director, said: “We were very happy that we could celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov this year, which was a significant moment in the history of junior tennis. We greatly appreciate the support from the National Sports Agency, the Olomouc Region and the City of Prostejov. We would also like to thank all our traditional event partners, especially the ITF for their trust in organising this event. It is an honour for our club to be part of it again in 2025 and 2026.”
