Last Frenchman Standing In Mouilleron-Le-Captif: Pouille Wins Open De Vendée

Lucas Pouille captured the title of the Open de Vendée held in Mouilleron-le-Captif, France. The No. 4 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 tournament defeated top seed and fellow Frenchman Quentin Halys 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.

Pouille only beat Frenchmen en route to the championship match. The 30-year-old fought past Gabriel Debru, Calvin Hemery, wild card entry Manuel Guinard and second seed Harold Mayot.

Pouille withstood 11 aces in the final and broke Halys’ serve two times to seal victory in one hour and 15 minutes.

By winning his third ATP Challenger Tour career title, his second of the season following his triumph in Mauthausen, Austria in May, Pouille pocketed €16,550 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.

Demoliner/Harrison claim doubles title

Earlier in the day, Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil and US-American Christian Harrison were crowned doubles champions. The pair defeated the all-Danish combination of August Holmgren and Johannes Ingildsen 6-3, 7-5 in one hour and 18 minutes.

Demoliner and Harrison earned their first team title. They split a prize purse of €6,845 and earned 100 ATP Doubles Ranking points.

The 11th edition of the Open de Vendée was held inside the Vendéspace, a large sports and entertainment arena in Mouilleron-le-Captif, a small town with about 6,000 inhabitants located in the Vendée department in western France. Known for its peaceful, rural charm, it offers a blend of historical and modern attractions.
