The WTA announced Monday that four singles players – Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini and Jessica Pegula – have qualified for the WTA Finals Riyadh, along with the doubles team of Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk.

The star-studded quartet join PIF WTA World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and Australian Open and US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka in the singles draw, leaving just two qualification positions remaining on the PIF Race to the WTA Finals.

Two spots also remain up for grabs in doubles, with Jelena Ostapenko & Lyudmyla Kichenok, Hsieh Su-Wei & Elise Mertens, Sara Errani & Jasmine Paolini, Gabriela Dabrowski & Erin Routliffe and Katerina Siniakova & Taylor Townsend having also secured their places in Riyadh.

American sensation Coco Gauff is celebrating her third straight WTA Finals qualification, with her best result coming last year when she reached the semifinals.

Gauff has secured her place in Riyadh courtesy of two titles this season, winning the recent WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing and defending her crown at the WTA 250 ASB Classic (Auckland) in January. She has reached a further six semifinals across all three surfaces, on the hardcourts of the Australian Open and WTA 1000 events at the BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells) and Dongfeng Voyah · Wuhan Open, on clay at Roland-Garros and WTA 1000 Internazionali BNL d’Italia (Rome) and on the grass of the ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin, and in the process set a new career high PIF WTA Ranking of No.2 in the world in June.

Appearing at the WTA Finals for the second year in a row, Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina made history in 2023 as the country’s first singles qualifier, and has enjoyed another standout season on the Hologic WTA Tour by reaching five finals.

She was triumphant at three WTA 500 events, at the Brisbane International presented by Evie, Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open and Porsche Tennis Grand Prix (Stuttgart) and contested the title match at two WTA 1000 tournaments, at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open (Doha) and the Miami Open presented by Itaú.

Jasmine Paolini has enjoyed a breakout season on the Hologic WTA Tour across 2024, and having already confirmed her place in the doubles draw in Riyadh with Sara Errani, she can also now celebrate her first singles qualification for the WTA Finals.

The 28-year-old will be the first Italian singles player to contest the WTA Finals since Flavia Pennetta in 2015 and earned her place courtesy of three finals on the Tour’s biggest stages, winning the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and reaching her first Grand Slam finals at Roland-Garros and The Championships, Wimbledon.

She broke into the Top 10 in the PIF WTA Rankings following contesting the title match in Paris in June and has posted over 35 wins in a season for the first time in her career.

Jessica Pegula will be making her third straight appearance at the WTA Finals, and last season went undefeated across the group stage eventually finishing as runner-up.

Pegula has enjoyed the best season of her career on the Hologic WTA Tour and propelled herself towards WTA Finals qualification during the summer, initially winning the WTA 500 ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin, defending her WTA 1000 title at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (Toronto), contesting another WTA 1000 title match at the Cincinnati Open then finally reaching her first singles Grand Slam final at the US Open.

This season marks Desirae Krawczyk’s fourth consecutive appearance at the WTA Finals, while partner Caroline Dolehide will step out on court at the WTA’s crown jewel event for the first time in her career. The all-American pairing have reached two WTA 1000 finals this season, winning the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (Toronto) and finishing as runners-up at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open (Doha), in addition to reaching two Grand Slam semifinals, at Roland-Garros and The Championships Wimbledon.

Their success this season has seen them both post career highs in the PIF WTA Rankings, and they are bidding to be the first American team to win the WTA Finals since Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond in 2011.

The 2024 WTA Finals features the top 8 singles and doubles teams on the PIF Race to the WTA Finals Leaderboard (with the 8th spot going to the singles player and doubles team that have won a Grand Slam if ranked No.8 to No.20). This showcases the world’s best eight singles players and doubles teams competing in a round-robin format with the singles champion lifting the WTA Finals Billie Jean King Trophy and the doubles champions earning the WTA Finals Martina Navratilova Trophy.
