Renata Zarazua has clinched the title of the Fifth Third Charleston 125. The top seed of the WTA 125 clay-court tournament defeated seventh-seeded US-American Hanna Chang 6-1, 7-6(4) in Sunday’s singles final in South Carolina.

Zarazua booked her place in the championship match with wins over Alina Charaeva from Russia, Spaniard Irene Burillo Escorihuela, No. 6 seed Louisa Chirico from the United States and the retirement of local wild card entry Lauren Davis.

The 27-year-old Mexican landed 88 per cent of her first services and broke Chang six times to seal victory in one hour and 50 minutes.
