Frenchman Thomas Faurel claimed the title at the 37th edition of the Yucatan Copa Munidal presented by Bepensa, succeeding two-time champion Rodrigo Pacheco. The 18-yera-old Faurel, seeded eighth at the ITF World Tennis Juniors 500 event, showcased a consistent and intelligent game to secure a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Miguel Tobon on the Lorenzo Molina Casares Stadium Court at Club Campestre in Merida, Yucatan on Sunday.

Faurel triumphed without losing a set in all six matches, mirroring Pacheco’s feat in his previous championship runs. Reflecting on his success, Faurel called the event an “incredible week” and shared his plans to transition to professional tennis in 2025, potentially competing in the Yucatan Open ATP Challenger Tour tournament next March.

Tobon, despite an impressive semifinal win, struggled to find his rhythm against Faurel, who controlled the match from start to finish. “It’s an incredible event, although today was not my day. I want to congratulate Thomas, who played very well. Again, it wasn’t my best day, but I’ll keep moving forward and see what lies ahead for me,” said Tobon.
