Germans Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, Mats Rosenkranz and Marvin Moeller all secured their spots in the semifinals of the TennisBase Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour M15 indoor hard-court event being in Oberhaching.

Friday’s match of the day featured an intense quarterfinal battle between and German teenager Diego Dedura-Palomero (ATP No. 581). From the start, the two left-handers engaged in a high-intensity contest.

The 34-year-old Stebe controlled the rallies with smart shot placement, forcing his 16-year-old opponent to cover a lot of ground. Despite conceding a break and falling behind 3-4, the seasoned German responded by winning three consecutive games to secure the opening set.

In the second set, both players continued to compete at a high level but Dedura-Palomero dictated play with his powerful groundstrokes. After earning a crucial break at 5-4, the Berlin native confidently closed out the set on serve.

The deciding set was a rollercoaster for the spectators. Stebe took a commanding lead at 3-1 and later at 5-3, only to see Dedura-Palomero fight back both times. However, the former Davis Cup player regained control in a tightly contested service game. When his young opponent served to force a tiebreak, signs of cramping affected Dedura-Palomero’s movement, leading to two rushed errors that handed Stebe a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 victory after two hours and 50 minutes.

“I tried to stay calm the entire match because my opponent played really well, and the contest was so tight,” said Stebe. “As the balls got slower, the rallies became incredibly long. I focused on disrupting his rhythm with slices and down-the-line shots, and I’m just happy that it worked in the end.”

The first match saw top seed Rosenkranz (ATP No. 366) take on Bulgarian talent Iliya Radulov (ATP No. 535). Radulov, a former Junior World No. 4 with two Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances, started strong, earning a break point in the opening game. However, once Rosenkranz fended off the early threat, he took full control of the match.

Using his powerful serve and aggressive groundstrokes, the 26-year-old German dominated the seventh seed, allowing him just one game in the first set.

The second set followed a similar pattern, with Rosenkranz breaking early and never looking back. After just 63 minutes, the left-hander from Essen wrapped up a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win.

A highly anticipated clash between fifth seed Moeller (ATP No. 529) and third seed Martin Damm from the United States (ATP No. 469) lived up to expectations. Both players held their serves comfortably, with Möller creating the only two break opportunities of the opening set in the third game but failing to convert.

In the tiebreak, the 26-year-old German held his nerve, edging out the American 10-8 to take the first set.

The second set continued in a similar fashion, with both players dominant on serve. However, at 5-4, Damm faltered at the net, gifting Möller his first match point. Under pressure, the 21-year-old US-American double-faulted, handing Moeller a 7-6(8), 6-4 victory in 1 hour and 49 minutes.

Moeller will next play Peter Fajta (ATP No. 521). The 22-year-old Hungarian defeated 19-year-old Yaroslav Denim (ATP No. 708) 6-3, 7-5 in 96 minutes. Denim, a former Junior World No. 1, fought hard but ultimately fell short against the steady Fajta.
