OBERHACHING, February 16, 2025
Top seed Mats Rosenkranz secured a dominant victory over 2022 champion Marvin Moeller, claiming the title of the 2025 TennisBase Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event held in Oberhaching.
The highly anticipated showdown between the two Germans attracted a packed crowd on Sunday. After holding serve comfortably, the 26-year-old Rosenkranz quickly put pressure on his opponent, earning two break points in Moeller’s first service game. While Moeller managed to save the first two, he ultimately lost his serve on the third opportunity. Rosenkranz found his rhythm early, while Moeller struggled with uncharacteristic forehand errors. The top seed extended his lead to 5-1 with another break and sealed the first set emphatically with a love hold, finishing with a powerful ace.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Rosenkranz racing to a commanding 4-0 lead. Although Moeller fought hard to save a break point and finally got on the board at 4-1, Rosenkranz remained in control. The World No. 366 earned his first match point after a routine service hold, but Moeller held firm once again. However, Rosenkranz was unstoppable on serve and closed out the match 6-1, 6-2 after 71 minutes, despite facing one last break point.

“I didn’t expect such a clear result, as my previous matches against Marvin have always been close. I played well today, while Marvin missed some opportunities. That created momentum in my favor,” said Rosenkranz.
“Apart from the one set I lost, everything went smoothly. It’s rare for me to play so consistently well throughout an entire week. That makes this title even more special, and I hope I can build on this success.”
With this victory, Rosenkranz not only collected 15 ATP Ranking points and a prize cheque of €1,944 but also joined an elite group of German champions in Oberhaching. Since the tournament’s inception in 2015, he became the seventh home favourite to lift the trophy in the event’s nine-year history.
During the awards ceremony, tournament director Christoph Poehlmann reflected on two successful weeks of tennis at the TennisBase Oberhaching, following the Dunlop Bavarian Junior Winter Championships the previous week. With Max Schoenhaus and Mats Rosenkranz both securing singles titles, the German Tennis Federation (DTB) and Bavarian Tennis Association (BTV) could celebrate a strong showing from homegrown talent. Poehlmann expressed his gratitude to the event’s partners, the organizing team, and the enthusiastic spectators who provided a great atmosphere for the final.
