The CRETE Challenger LYTTOS 1 at the Lyttos Beach Hotel in Hersonissos, Crete, is underway. The first tournament runs until March 9, and the second from March 10 to 16. Both belong to the ATP Challenger 50 category and are organized by the International Tennis Coaching (I.T.C.) of Apostolos Tsitsipas, hosted by the LYTTOS BEACH RESORT & SPORTS CENTER, and under the auspices of the Hellenic Tennis Federation (E.F.O.A.).
These are two back-to-back tournaments as part of the ATP Challenger Tour series, a category of tournaments that is taking place again in Greece after thirteen years and will host one hundred top tennis players from around the world. Each tournament offers a total prize purse of €54,000. The champion will earn valuable 50 ATP Ranking points. Along with their companions and ATP representatives, approximately 300 athletes and visitors from all over the world will be welcomed in Crete.
Apostolos Tsitsipas, along with his professional team, has a vision to create a series of professional ATP Challenger tournaments in Greece and Crete, which will not only elevate the country on a global level but will also give many young talents in our country the opportunity to take a big step into professional tennis, as well as promote Crete as the most beautiful tourist and sports destination in Greece and Europe.
