QUINTA DO LAGO/STARNBERG, March 11, 2025

After a weekend of stormy weather, the eighth edition of The Campus Quinta do Lago Open finally crowned its champions on Monday. George Loffhagen of Great Britain claimed the singles title, while Portugal’s Tiago Pereira and Diogo Marques triumphed in doubles.

Due to persistent rain delays, both the singles and doubles semifinals and finals were pushed to Monday. The day’s play began at The Campus but had to be moved indoors to the Tennis and Padel Center in Faro as weather conditions worsened.

Loffhagen dominates singles draw

In the singles competition, George Loffhagen (ATP No. 478) started his day with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Canada’s Justin Boulais (No. 945) to book his spot in the final. Later in the afternoon, the 21-year-old Brit claimed the championship with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Romania’s Gabi Adrian Boitan (No. 379), who had earlier ended the impressive run of Portuguese wildcard Tomás Luís (No. 1334).

Luís, a 22-year-old from the Algarve, had reached his first-ever ITF World Tennis Tour semifinal, but struggled in tough conditions and lost 6-0, 6-1 to Boitan. His campaign, however, will push him into the Top 1,000 for the first time next week.

Loffhagen, who eliminated Gastao Elias in the second round, played flawless tennis in the final. Indoors, he capitalized on faster conditions, dominating with his serve, saving the only break point he faced, and securing key breaks late in each set. This victory marks his fifth career ITF World Tennis Tour M25 title and his second of 2024, following his triumph in Roehampton.

Portuguese success in doubles

While the singles trophy went to Great Britain, the doubles title remained in Portugal as Tiago Pereira and Diogo Marques lifted the trophy.

The Portuguese pair overcame Sweden’s Henrik Bladelius and Norway’s Lukas Hellum Lilleengen in a tight 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 semifinal. Later in the afternoon, they defeated Finland’s Patrick Kaukovalta and Estonia’s Johannes Seeman 6-4, 6-2 to seal the championship.

For 20-year-old Tiago Pereira, this was a title defense, having won the tournament in 2024 alongside Bulgaria’s Alexander Donski. It also marked his 11th career doubles title on the Pro Circuit, solidifying his position as Portugal’s No. 2 doubles player (ATP No. 215). Diogo Marques (27, ATP No. 632 in doubles) captured his second professional title, once again teaming up with Pereira after their previous victory in Idanha-a-Nova last year.
