ITF Press Release, March 13, 2025

USA’s Jessica Pegula and Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina lead a strong line-up of players who will compete at the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Qualifiers in April, with a total of 84 players having been nominated to represent their nations next month. Each Qualifiers event will be held on either 10-12 or 11-13 April.

Pegula and Danielle Collins will spearhead USA’s quest for a Finals berth in Qualifiers Group C in Bratislava, with the Americans set to face hosts Slovakia and Denmark. Meanwhile, Rybakina leads a Kazakhstan team who will play in Qualifiers Group D in Brisbane alongside Australia and Colombia.

Other stars named in their nations’ squads for the Qualifiers include: Linda Noskova (Czechia), Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil), Clara Tauson (Denmark), Belinda Bencic (Switzerland), Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) and Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu (Great Britain). Nations can make up to three changes to their squads until one day prior to the event start date.

The 2025 Qualifiers are being played as six groups of three nations on a round-robin basis as the Finals transition from a 12-team event in 2024 to an eight-team event in 2025, mirroring the existing Davis Cup Final 8 format. In January, Shenzhen was confirmed as the host of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals for 2025-27.

Each Qualifiers event will be held in one location over three days on either 10-12 or 11-13 April, with the host nation having choice of surface. The schedules for the Qualifiers were announced last month. The six group winners will join hosts China, P.R. and 2024 world champions Italy at the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals.

All ties at the Qualifiers will be played as best-of-three matches – two singles matches followed by a doubles match. All matches will be played as best-of-three tiebreak sets.

The nations finishing in 2nd and 3rd place in each group will compete in the 2025 Play-offs, alongside the nine best-performing teams from the three 2025 regional Group I events. The Play-offs will also be contested as groups of three teams, with the group winners advancing to the 2026 Qualifiers.

Traditional home-or-away ties will return in the Qualifiers and Play-offs from 2026 onwards.

There are also four regional Group events taking place in the week commencing 7 April. France’s Caroline Garcia, Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, New Zealand’s Lulu Sun and Mexico’s Renata Zarazua are among those set to represent their nations.
