“I have been enjoying the last few days. It’s great to be back here after 20 years. It’s a great tournament and I enjoy the atmosphere. It’s great to have such a big support,” said Wawrinka, who celebrates his 40th birthday on Friday.
The former World No. 3 will next play in-form Borna Coric. The seventh-seeded Croatian won his 16th consecutive match win by defeating Frenchman Harold Mayot 6-4, 6-2. Coric, a winner of three straight Challenger crowns this month, secured victory in one hour and 34 minutes.
