POZNAN/STARNBERG, April 29, 2025
Kamil Majchrzak, last year’s semifinalist at the Enea Poznan Open, recently claimed his eighth career ATP Challenger Tour title with an emotional victory in Madrid. In the final of the Challenger 100 event, the Polish overcame 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
“It was definitely a very emotional experience for me, considering everything I’ve been through in recent years,” said Majchrzak. “Winning the tournament in Madrid not only secured my return to the ATP Top 100 but also granted me direct entry into the main draw of Roland Garros. The field was very strong, and I wasn’t seeded, so I had tough opponents from the very first round. I’m proud I managed to pull through. This title is the culmination of a difficult journey, which I’ve shared with my family and team.”
Currently ranked World No. 88, Majchrzak now finds himself in a position to enter higher-level tournaments. “Being inside the Top 90 changes things a bit. I was just in Madrid for the ATP 1000, and now I’m planning to play the Rome Masters next. Depending on how that goes, I might head to Geneva (ATP 250) or Hamburg (ATP 500). And then, of course, there’s Roland Garros.”

Unfortunately, this means Majchrzak will not be returning to Poznan for the 30th edition of the Enea Poznan Open, which takes place from June 15 to 21. Last year, he made a deep run to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Maks Kasnikowski.
“I truly regret not being able to play in Poznan this year. I really like that tournament,” Majchrzak admitted. “To be honest, I was a bit anxious last year because it was my first tournament in Poland after my suspension, and I wasn’t sure how the crowd would receive me. But the fans were incredibly supportive. The atmosphere was amazing, and the Polish players delivered great results. That semifinal was a special moment for both the tournament and Polish tennis. I have very fond memories of that week, and although I won’t be there this year, I hope Maks and the other Polish players perform well and make the fans proud.”
Maks Kasnikowski, the defending champion, has already confirmed his participation in this year’s Enea Poznan Open. The tournament has been upgraded to ATP Challenger 100 status and will be held at Park Tenisowy Olimpia with a total prize pool of €145,250.
