Top seed Radu Albot is the champion of the €42,500 Poznan Open held at the Park Tenisowy Olimpia. The world number 92 from Moldova defeated Belgian qualifier Clement Geens, who appeared in his first final on the ATP Challenger Tour, 6-2, 6-4.
Albot sent down three aces, winning 63% of his first service points and converted four of his seven break point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 32 minutes.
The 26-year-old claimed his fifth Challenger title, his third of the season, following his triumphs in Fürth and Fergana. Albot finished runner-up to Pablo Carreno-Busta in Poznan last year and takes away €6,150 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points in 2016.
On Saturday, Aleksandre Metreveli and Hsien-Yin Peng captured the doubles title, winning 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 over local heros Mateusz Koalczyk and Kamil Majchrzak. The encounter lasted one hour and 15 minutes.
