Napoli Tennis Cup

NAPLES/STARNBERG, March 23, 2026

The European clay-court season really begins to gain momentum once again in Naples, Italy as the Guerri Napoli Tennis Cup returns from March 23 to 29. Tuesday will be the day of the big names at the ATP Challenger 125 event organized by Master Group Sport in collaboration with the Tennis Club Napoli.

Leading the spotlight is Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka, the tournament’s No. 4 seed, who will open his campaign against France’s Matteo Martineau. The 40-year-old three-time Grand Slam champion recently re-entered the Top 100 after reaching the third round of the Australian Open. Following that match, No. 3 seed Alexandre Muller of France, currently ranked world No. 90 and a former Top 40 player in 2025, will take on Swiss qualifier Jakub Paul. Top seed and world No. 55 Daniel Altmaier of Germany faces Spain’s Miguel Damas in another highly anticipated clash.

On Monday, the first results from the opening round have already delivered notable performances. Italy’s Andrea Pellegrino, the No. 6 seed and a semifinalist in Naples in 2025, secured a solid 6-1, 6-4 victory over Romania’s Filip Jianu on his 29th birthday. Ukraine’s Vitaliy Sachko also advanced comfortably, defeating France’s Geoffrey Blancaneaux 6-2, 6-1.

Italian tennis continues to shine in the qualifying rounds, with five players earning spots in the main draw: Enrico Dalla Valle, Michele Ribecai, Francesco Forti, Federico Bondioli, and lucky loser Andrea Guerrieri. They join seven Italians already in the main draw, further strengthening the home presence.
