NAPLES/STARNBERG, March 28, 2026
The top seed of the tournament, Daniel Altmaier of Germany, will face the fifth seed, Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic, in Sunday’s singles final of the Guerri Napoli Tennis Cup.
Altmaier secured his place in the championship match after defeating the 20-year-old Italian Federico Bondioli in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, in one hour and 45 minutes. Bondioli showed great promise, particularly in the second set, challenging a more experienced and higher-ranked opponent. Altmaier, currently ranked world No. 55 and previously No. 44 earlier in 2026, is aiming for his eighth ATP Challenger title and a return to the world’s top 50.

In the other semifinal, Medjedovic lived up to expectations, defeating Ukraine’s Vitaliy Sachko 7-5, 6-1 in one hour and 27 minutes. The match remained balanced until 5–5 in the first set, after which the Serbian’s talent clearly took over. The 22-year-old, who has been mentored since his junior days by Novak Djokovic, is aiming to return to the world’s top 100. Thanks to his semifinal victory, he is set to rise to No. 102 in the ATP Rankings next week, with the final still to play.
Despite his young age, Medjedovic already boasts an impressive résumé, including victory at the Next Gen ATP Finals, as well as two ATP Tour finals – one in Marseille in 2025 and another in Belgrade in 2024.
Paul/Vocel crowned doubles champions
Meanwhile, the doubles tournament has concluded with victory for Switzerland’s Jakub Paul and the Czech Republic’s Matej Vocel, both top-100 players and the tournament’s third seeds. They defeated Germany’s Tim Ruehl and the Netherlands’ Mick Veldheer in the final, 6-2, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 14 minutes.
Paul and Vocel split €9,010 in prize money and earned 125 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
