BARLETTA/STARNBERG, April 5, 2026
After six painful defeats in ATP Challenger Tour finals, Lukas Neumayer finally celebrated the biggest victory of his career at the Open Citta della Disfida – Trofeo Lapietra in Barletta, Italy. The 22-year-old Austrian captured his maiden Challenger title on Sunday, coming from a set down to defeat Italian lucky loser Michele Ribecai 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match.
In front of the home crowd, Ribecai made the stronger start, but Neumayer stayed composed and gradually took control to end his long wait for a trophy. The world No. 224 converted four of his eight break-point chances and won 53 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in two hours and six minutes.
