Home favourites advance in doubles
Mexicans Alex Hernandez and Alan Magadan booked their place in the quarterefinals of the doubles draw at the Mexico City Open after defeating Jay Clarke of Great Britain and Alafia Ayeni of the United States 6-2, 7-6 at Centro Deportivo Chapultepec.
The local pair produced a strong serving performance, facing only one break of serve throughout the match. Their consistency proved decisive as they secured the victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd on the Grandstand court at the “Chapu”.
Hernandez and Magadan will now play for a place in the semi-finals against Dutchman Thijmen Loof and US-American Daniel Milavsky. Loof and Milavsky reached the last eight with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Australians Jake Delaney and Marc Polmans.
