The 2026 edition of the BOSS OPEN in Stuttgart is shaping up to be one of the most competitive grass-court events of the season, featuring an exceptionally strong field led by world No. 3 Alexander Zverev, reigning champion Taylor Fritz, and rising US star Ben Shelton.

Fritz, a BOSS brand ambassador, returns as defending champion after defeating Zverev in last year’s final in straight sets on a packed Centre Court. The American has proven his strength on grass, winning five of his ten ATP titles on the surface, highlighting his comfort on faster courts.

Alongside the established top names, Alexander Bublik adds further depth to the field. The Kazakh, currently ranked inside the top ten, enjoyed a standout 2025 season, capturing titles in Halle and several other ATP events, showcasing his versatility and unpredictable playing style.

Ben Shelton continues to rise as one of the most dangerous young players on tour. With recent titles in Dallas and Munich, his powerful serve and aggressive game are particularly well-suited to grass courts, making him a serious contender in Stuttgart.

The tournament also features a strong US-American presence, with multiple top-50 players including Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Brandon Nakashima, Alex Michelsen, and Sebastian Korda, reinforcing the USA’s dominance in depth on the ATP Tour.

Other notable entrants include Matteo Berrettini, a two-time Stuttgart champion and proven grass-court specialist, as well as fan-favorite Nick Kyrgios, both of whom add experience and entertainment value to the draw.

Tournament director Edwin Weindorfer praised the strength of the lineup, highlighting the combination of top-ranked stars, rising talents, and diverse playing styles. Former professional and tournament ambassador Michael Berrer also emphasized the exceptional quality of the field, noting the unusually high cut-off ranking, a clear indicator of the event’s growing prestige
