Mallorca is set to welcome back a familiar and successful face. Tallon Griekspoor, champion of the 2025 edition, has confirmed his participation in the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships 2026, returning as defending champion to a grass court venue where he enjoyed one of the standout weeks of his career.

The Dutchman lifted the trophy last year after a high-quality final against Corentin Moutet, winning 7–5, 7–6(3) in a match shaped by demanding conditions, sustained intensity and fine margins. Griekspoor managed the key moments with authority, relying on a solid serve and sharp decision-making on grass, saving all four break points he faced over the course of the match.

At 28, Griekspoor became the oldest champion in the history of the tournament and claimed the third ATP title of his career in Mallorca, underlining his effectiveness on grass and his ability to perform in challenging match situations.

“Winning here was something very special and it’s a memory I carry with me,” said Griekspoor after confirming his return. “I’m really looking forward to coming back to Mallorca, especially because I train at the club quite often and feel very comfortable here. Being able to enjoy this particular tournament atmosphere again — the grass, the surroundings and the fans — is hugely motivating for me.”

Griekspoor’s connection with Mallorca goes beyond competition. The Dutch player regularly trains at the Mallorca Country Club, a familiarity that has clearly translated into confidence on court. His return as defending champion is also expected to attract strong interest from Dutch tennis fans and tourists, many of whom traditionally travel to the island in June and will have the opportunity to see one of their leading players in action.

Tournament director Toni Nadal welcomed the news as a positive signal for the event: “Having the defending champion back is always important for a tournament. Tallon knows our facilities well, understands how to play on grass and has built a special relationship with Mallorca. His return strengthens the sporting profile of the event and is great news for the fans.”

With Griekspoor confirmed, the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships 2026 continues to take shape, reinforcing its position as one of the key stops on the ATP Tour’s grass-court season. The tournament has already confirmed Alexander Bublik, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Frances Tiafoe, Nick Kyrgios, Yannick Hanfmann and Jan‑Lennard Struff, underlining the event’s growing status within the grass‑court season.
