STUTTGART/STARNBERG, June 14, 2026
Ben Shelton is the 2026 BOSS Open champion. The tournament’s top seed defeated defending champion and BOSS brand ambassador Taylor Fritz 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in an all-US-American final on Sunday to secure his third title of the season and the sixth of his career. Shelton earned €116,855 in prize money and collected 250 ATP Ranking points for his victory.
The triumph also marked Shelton’s third title on a third different surface this season. After winning on hard courts in Dallas—also against Taylor Fritz—and on clay in Munich, the 23-year-old world No. 5 has now added a grass-court title to his collection. Alongside Jannik Sinner, he is the only player on the ATP Tour to have won three or more tournaments this year.
Shelton made the stronger start in the final, taking the opening set 6-4. Fritz responded impressively in the second set, leveling the match with a convincing 6-2. In the deciding set, however, the defending champion was unable to convert his break opportunities. At 4-4, Shelton broke his countryman’s serve and then calmly served out the match after one hour and 48 minutes.

Notably, Shelton had come close to elimination on multiple occasions during the tournament. He saved one match point against fellow US-American Marcos Giron in the round of 16 and two more against Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic in the semifinals. Nevertheless, the American fought his way through to claim the sixth ATP title of his career.
During the trophy ceremony, Shelton once again showed his entertaining personality—this time with a microphone rather than a tennis racket in hand. He first apologized to the ball kids: “I know I fired a few rockets at you this week. Sorry to everyone I hit.”
After the golden confetti fell onto Centre Court, he joked: “This is going to be a nightmare to clean up.”
Shelton also revealed his romantic side when thanking his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, daughter of former basketball star Dennis Rodman. Rodman, regarded as one of the best soccer players in the United States, had flown to Stuttgart directly from Brazil, where she was on international duty with the U.S. national team.
“You’re my lucky charm,” Shelton said. “I think I’ve won every tournament you’ve attended.”
Hanfmann and Struff Give German Fans Something to Celebrate
Earlier in the day, Yannick Hanfmann and Jan-Lennard Struff thrilled the home crowd by capturing the doubles title. The German pair defeated Estonia’s Daniil Glinka and Greece’s Stefanos Sakellaridis 7-6 (7/2), 3-6, 11-9 in the final to complete a surprising and impressive run.
Remarkably, it was only the second ATP tournament the two Germans had played together as a team. With their victory, Hanfmann and Struff became the third all-German doubles team to win the title at the Weissenhof.
