BRAUNSCHWEIG/STARNBERG, June 21, 2026
German tennis is enjoying a resurgence following Alexander Zverev’s triumph at the 2026 French Open, and the BRAWO OPEN aims to showcase the sport’s next generation when the ATP Challenger 125 event returns to Braunschweig from July 2–12.
Held at the picturesque Braunschweiger THC (BTHC), the tournament remains one of the most prestigious stops on the ATP Challenger Tour and will once again bring together Germany’s brightest young prospects alongside established international stars. Organizers have worked closely with both the ATP and the German Tennis Federation (DTB) to assemble a high-quality field for the 32nd edition of the event.
The BRAWO OPEN will retain its ATP Challenger 125 status in 2026 while increasing its total prize money to €203,900, an increase of more than €31,000 compared to last year. The tournament’s reputation remains unmatched at Challenger level, having been voted the world’s best ATP Challenger event six times—more than any other tournament in the category.
Among the headline attractions is 18-year-old German sensation Niels McDonald, who receives a main-draw wildcard after capturing the 2025 French Open junior title. Fellow German teenager Diego Dedura also returns after an impressive showing in Braunschweig last year, while former tournament champion Daniel Altmaier, currently ranked No. 81 in the world, is set to compete once again.
The international field features several accomplished South American players, including Argentina’s Roman Andres Burruchaga (World No. 62), Francisco Comesana (World No. 88) and Facundo Diaz Acosta (World No. 127). Fans can also look forward to seeing former ATP Top-20 players Nikoloz Basilashvili, Cristian Garin and Alexei Popyrin, alongside a promising group of rising talents such as Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, Daniel Merida and 17-year-old French prospect Moise Kouame.
The official tournament draw will take place on Saturday, July 4, with qualifying beginning on Sunday, July 5. Main-draw singles and doubles action gets underway on Monday, July 6.

Beyond the tennis, the BRAWO OPEN continues to develop its reputation as one of Germany’s premier sporting and entertainment events. For the first time, the tournament will run across eleven days, providing more opportunities for fans to enjoy both world-class tennis and a vibrant festival atmosphere.
The event’s extensive entertainment programme includes family activities, junior tennis initiatives and a series of evening concerts featuring some of the biggest names in German-speaking music. Among the artists scheduled to perform are Glockenbach, LEA, Josh., Frida Gold, Riku Rajamaa, Vanessa Mai, Die Prinzen and Dieter Bohlen.
“With rising costs everywhere, we are still committed to offering attractive prices for both the sporting and musical programme,” said tournament organizer Markus Beese. “I’m looking forward to two special weeks in July filled with exciting matches, unforgettable concerts and a fantastic atmosphere.”
