The sixth edition of the Platzmann Open held at the TC Rot-Weiß Hagen is set to welcome the strongest player field in the tournament’s history when the ATP Challenger 100 tournament takes place from August 2–9, 2026. With the official entry list now released, tennis fans can look forward to a week of world-class competition in Hagen.

Leading the field is Jan Choinski, who arrives in career-best form after capturing the ATP Challenger title in Braunschweig last week. The British player, born in Koblenz, has climbed to a career-high World No. 75 and heads an exceptionally strong field.

Second seed is expected to be Alex Molcan of Slovakia, a former World No. 38 who reached the semifinals of the ATP tournament in Munich earlier this year. The entry list also includes several proven performers, among them former Roland Garros semifinalist Marco Cecchinato and former Top 50 player Roberto Carballes Baena.

Tournament Director Rogier Wassen is delighted with the quality of this year’s field.

“We have never had so many top players enter the tournament. The direct acceptance cut-off is around World No. 200, which is the highest in our history. It confirms that upgrading the event to an ATP Challenger 100 and moving it one week later in the calendar was the right decision,” said Wassen.

Alongside the experienced professionals, several of Germany’s most promising young players will also compete in Hagen. Following the previously announced wildcard for Max Schoenhaus, 2025 Roland Garros boys’ champion Niels McDonald has also been awarded a main-draw wildcard.

Supporting the next generation remains one of the tournament’s key objectives.

“These tournaments are extremely important for young German players, giving them the opportunity to compete against experienced professionals who have already built successful careers. With the home crowd behind them, I expect one or two surprises,” Wassen added.
