Alejo Sanchez Quilez of Aragon and Benjamin Winter Lopez of Andalusia have been crowned doubles champions of the 2026 Open Ciudad de Pozoblanco Covap Memorial Fabian Dorado, defeating Turkey’s Yanki Erel and Arda Azkara 6-2, 7-5 in one hour and 17 minutes on Saturday.

The victory makes Sanchez Quilez and Winter the third all-Spanish pair to win the Pozoblanco ATP Challenger doubles title and the first to do so since Marcel and Gerard Granollers lifted the trophy in 2010. Before the Granollers brothers, Fernando Vicente and Santi Ventura had claimed the title in 2007. A fourth Spanish triumph came during the tournament’s ITF era, when Sergio Martos and Andres Artunedo were crowned champions.

The Spanish pair were the better team for most of the final. They controlled the opening set from the baseline and at the net, breaking serve in the sixth game before sealing the set with another break in the eighth game despite the Turkish duo serving at an impressive success rate.

The only moment of uncertainty came at the start of the second set, when Erel and Azkara earned an immediate break and rode that momentum to a 5-3 lead. However, Sanchez Quilez and Winter responded emphatically, breaking back in the eighth game and then taking complete control of the closing stages.

With the Turks trying to force a tie-break, the Spanish duo raised their level once more and closed out the match before it could reach a decider, securing their first ATP Challenger title both as a team and individually.

For winning the title, Sanchez Quilez and Winter receive €4,540 and 75 ATP Doubles Ranking points, while runners-up Erel and Azkara take home €2,630 and 50 ATP Ranking points.
