The WTT Krsko Open 2026, a World Tennis Tour W15 event, concluded successfully on the courts of Tennis Club Krsko, with Germany’s Marie Vogt emerging as the champion after a commanding run through the draw.
Vogt, the tournament’s top seed, lived up to her favourite status by defeating 20-year-old Spaniard Ruth Roura Llaverias 6-2, 6-4 in the final. The German controlled the match with aggressive baseline play and consistent serving, securing the title in straight sets and confirming her excellent form throughout the week.
Held from 13 to 19 July, the tournament brought together 56 players from 20 countries, providing the Posavje region in Slovenia with a week of high-quality international tennis. Vogt’s triumph was the highlight of the event, as she added another important title to her professional career and underlined her position as one of the strongest players on the World Tennis Tour at this level.
The tournament also produced several encouraging performances from Slovenian players. Ziva Falkner reached the semifinals after overcoming local wildcard Veritsa Yaneva in the quarterfinals. Falkner’s run ended in a closely contested three-set semifinal against eventual finalist Roura Llaverias.
Sixteen-year-old Veritsa Yaneva, a member of Tennis Club Krsko, enjoyed a breakthrough tournament. Competing on a wildcard, she advanced to the quarterfinals and earned her first WTA Ranking points, an important milestone in her young career.
Tournament director Sebastjan Komocar praised the overall level of the competition and the atmosphere around the courts.
“We have had a week of outstanding tennis and incredible energy around the courts. I am proud of our team, the children, and the volunteers, who worked together as one. We are especially happy for Veritsa, who justified the organiser’s wildcard and won her first WTA points, and for Tia, who experienced professional tennis for the first time. Both are proof that our club is doing quality work and providing young players with a real development pathway.”
