AUGSBURG, August 21, 2026

The field for the fifth anniversary edition of the Schwaben Open by Great2Stay at the venue of the TC Augsburg is taking final shape, with the tournament’s latest wildcards adding further depth to an already strong line-up. French Open junior champion Niels McDonald, Schwaben Open regular Daniel Masur and Iphitos youngster Henri Haupt have all been awarded main-draw wildcards for the ATP Challenger 50 event, which offers €56,700 in prize money.

The trio joins a strong German contingent that already includes Munich’s Max Rehberg, who will make his Augsburg debut, Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup finalist Marvin Moeller and Max Schoenhaus, who impressed on home soil at last year’s tournament.

The 18-year-old McDonald is one of the most exciting young German prospects. Last year, the Schwerin native captured the French Open boys’ singles title, defeating fellow German Max Schoenhaus in an all-German final. He will now have the opportunity to test himself against experienced international competition in Augsburg.

Masur, meanwhile, is set to make his fourth appearance at the Schwaben Open. The player from the TennisBase Oberhaching reached the singles semi-finals in 2024 and will once again be looking to make a deep run in the Fuggerstadt. Completing the main-draw wildcard trio is Munich youngster Henri Haupt, who represents regional-league champions MTTC Iphitos and will be eager to make the most of his opportunity on the Challenger stage.

Davis Cup experience and young talent in qualifying

The qualifying draw, which gets underway on Sunday, August 23, will also feature several notable names. German Davis Cup player Maximilian Marterer has received a wildcard as he continues his return to the Tour following a lengthy injury lay-off.

Also heading into qualifying is Liam Gavrielides, who has represented Germany at multiple junior Grand Slam events. Berlin’s Benito Sanchez-Martinez will return to Augsburg after a memorable run last year, when he came through qualifying before reaching the quarterfinals.

Dominik Matic has earned his wildcard through his consistently strong performances in the NextGen Series of the Bavarian Tennis Federation. The TC Großhesselohe player finished top of the overall standings and will now have the chance to compete for a place in the main draw.

Munich’s Marko Topo and Schleswig-Holstein prospect Mika Petkovic have already secured their qualifying spots based on their ATP rankings.

Defending doubles champions return

The tournament organisers have also awarded a wildcard for the doubles draw to Daniel Masur and Benito Sanchez-Martinez. The German duo won the title in Augsburg last year, defeating Czech pair Filip Duda and Jiri Barnat in straight sets in the final.

They will return this year with their sights firmly set on defending their title.

Tennis for the whole family

The fifth anniversary edition will once again feature an extensive programme away from the professional competition. Ambitious young players and adults will have the opportunity to take to the court themselves in the traditional LK tournaments, while spectators can take part in a One-Point Challenge on Friday and test their skills against a professional player.

The day will then culminate in the official Schwaben Open Party, giving fans and players the chance to celebrate the tournament together.

Tickets are available from €7.50 for individual sessions, while a tournament pass costs €60. Further information is available on the official tournament website and through the Schwaben Open’s social media channels.
