Aidan Mayo produced one of the most remarkable stories of the 2026 ATP Challenger season at the Kingston Open 2 in Jamaica. The 23-year-old US-American entered the tournament as a lucky loser but went on to capture the title without dropping a set after the opening round, defeating second seed Andres Andrade in Saturday’s singles final 6-3, 7-6(7).
Played from August 24 to 29 on the hard courts of the Liguanea Club in Kingston, the ATP Challenger 75 was the second of two consecutive Challenger tournaments staged in the Jamaican capital. The back-to-back events marked Jamaica’s debut on the ATP Challenger Tour and represented a landmark moment for professional tennis in the English-speaking Caribbean.
Mayo’s title run was particularly impressive given his late entry into the main draw. After losing in the final round of qualifying, Mayo gained a place in the field as a lucky loser. He immediately took advantage of the opportunity, defeating fellow US-American Matthew Forbes in the first round before overcoming Benjamin Willwerth in three sets. He then moved past sixth seed Andres Martin 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Mayo continued his unexpected charge with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Brazilian junior Guto Miguel, earning a place in his first Challenger final since 2024.
His final opponent was second seed Andres Andrade of Ecuador, who had reached the championship match after an impressive run of his own. Andrade defeated Australian wildcard Max Purcell in the quarterfinals before coming from a set down to beat fourth seed Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals.
The final saw Mayo establish control early, taking the opening set 6-3. Andrade fought back in the second set, but Mayo remained composed when it mattered most. He saved four set points before eventually taking the tiebreak 9-7 and securing the championship in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(7).

The victory was Mayo’s second ATP Challenger title, following his triumph in Drummondville in November 2024. The 23-year-old Sacramento native climbed to No. 362 in the ATP Rankings after his Kingston success and became only the second lucky loser to win an ATP Challenger title in 2026, following David Jorda Sanchis in Lyon.
The doubles title went to top seeds Arthur Reymond and Luca Sanchez of France. They defeated Bulgaria’s Alexander Donski and Canada’s Dan Martin 6-2, 6-4 in the final.
