The countdown to the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships is underway. With less than a month to go until the start of the tournament, organiser e|motion group has confirmed the player entry list for the second edition of the WTA 125 event, which will take place from 10 to 18 October on the clay courts of the Magaluf Sports Centre.

Leading the field is Argentina’s Solana Sierra, who returns to Mallorca as defending champion after capturing the title at the inaugural tournament in 2025. Currently ranked inside the world’s Top 100, Sierra leads a strong international field and will arrive as one of the tournament favourites.

Last year’s triumph carried extra significance as she received the champion’s trophy from Gabriela Sabatini, the tournament ambassador and one of the most iconic figures in the history of women’s tennis.

“We are especially proud to welcome Gabriela Sabatini back as tournament ambassador. Her career, elegance and commitment to women’s tennis perfectly reflect the values we want to promote through this event. She remains a role model for several generations of athletes and an inspiration to young players dreaming of reaching the highest level of the game,” said Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of e|motion group.

The main draw once again promises a strong international line-up. Alongside Sierra, the field includes Austria’s Julia Grabher, Czech rising star Laura Samson, and Germany’s Noma Noha Akugue, all among the highest-ranked players entered in the tournament. Spanish hopes will rest on Marina Bassols Ribera, Andrea Lázaro García and Ane Mintegi del Olmo, who will be looking to make their mark in front of local fans. The tournament features a 32-player main draw and a 16-player qualifying competition.

For Weindorfer, the return of the defending champion adds another compelling storyline to this year’s event. “Whenever a champion returns to defend a title, it creates a special narrative for the tournament. Solana Sierra made a tremendous impression last year and we are delighted to welcome her back to Mallorca. I am confident that fans will enjoy excellent tennis throughout the week.”
