An action-packed Saturday unfolded at the AutoClub as the Challenger Ciudad de Antofagasta, presented by Antofagasta Minerals, reached its decisive stages, with the singles semi-finals and the doubles final.

In the singles competition, Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild secured the first spot in the final with a convincing 6-4, 6-1 victory over Argentina’s Lautaro Midon. His compatriot Joao Lucas Reis Da Silva followed suit, defeating Bolivia’s Juan Carlos Prado Angelo 6-3, 6-4 to set up an all-Brazilian showdown for the title.

After booking his place in the final of the ATP Challenger 75 clay-court tournament in Chile, Reis Da Silva reflected on his semi-final performance and looked ahead to the title clash.

“It was a very tough match. Juan Carlos is a tremendous player and I had lost the last time we faced each other. Today, I played at an excellent level from the beginning and I am very happy with the way I managed the end of the match and with reaching another final,” said the Brazilian.

“I really enjoy playing in Chile and I also felt very comfortable here in Antofagasta last year. I am happy to be back in the final. I have known Thiago since we were 12 years old, so it will be a very tough match. He has been playing very well and tomorrow we will give everything to fight for the title,” he added.

Meanwhile, Seyboth Wild was equally pleased with his performance and praised the tournament conditions in Antofagasta, where he will be aiming to lift the trophy.

“I am very happy with the victory and with reaching this final. I really enjoy playing here. The conditions are good and we have a beautiful view of the sea. The final will be a tough match because we have known each other since we were kids and have played against each other many times. We are looking to play our best tennis, stay healthy and achieve the best possible results,” Seyboth Wild commented.

Zormann and Ribeiro Crowned Doubles Champions

In the doubles competition, Brazilians Marcelo Zormann and Eduardo Ribeiro celebrated the title after defeating the Mexican-Peruvian pairing of Alan Magadan and Alexander Merino 6-1, 6-3 in the final.

Ribeiro was delighted with the successful week alongside his long-time friend and partner.

“I am very happy with the week. We played a really good final today. Marcelo has been a great friend of mine for many years, and hopefully we can continue playing together and enjoying more successful tournaments. We are travelling to Bolivia now, so the priority is to get as much rest as possible and arrive in good shape for the next event,” Ribeiro said.
