OLBIA/STARNBERG, October 16, 2026
Jacob Fearnley and Damir Dzumhur continued to set the pace at the Olbia Challenger, both securing convincing victories to reach the semi-finals. The top seed from Great Britain defeated Czech talent Maxim Mrva 6-0, 7-6(4), while the second seed of Bosnia and Herzegovina eased past fifth-seeded Tom Gentzsch 6-0, 6-3. Stefano Travaglia‘s run came to an end as he fell 6-2, 7-5 to an impressive Maks Kasnikowski.
There have been few blemishes in Jacob Fearnley’s campaign in Olbia. Displaying impressive maturity and consistency, the 25-year-old Briton reached the stage of the final four with his third victory of the week after one hour and 19 minutes.

“It was a really enjoyable match. Maxim is an exciting player and it’s fun to play against him,” said the world No. 96. “At certain moments, he can leave you standing still, but I think I played a good match. I’m happy there was a bit more of a battle in the second set, also for the crowd, but at the same time it’s good to have finished in straight sets.”
In 2025, Fearnley reached a career-high ranking of world No. 49. The Briton is now gradually working towards returning to those heights.
“Tennis is a sport with very fine margins. Two points go your way and you’re in the Top 50; two things don’t go your way and you’re world No. 150. In terms of my tennis, I’m not far from my best level and therefore my career-high ranking, but it’s not just about how well you play because the standard is very high. The most important thing is to enjoy yourself on court and make the most of the tournament, which is exactly what’s happening here in Olbia. The crowd is fantastic and the location is wonderful. I’m really enjoying my time here.”
Fearnley will face either fourth seed Michael Mmoh or Luca Nardi, the last Italian remaining in the singles draw following Travaglia’s elimination, for a place in Sunday’s final of the ATP Challenger 125 in Sardinia.
“Michael and Luca are both excellent players. It should be an entertaining match and one I’ll enjoy watching. At the same time, I need to get some rest ahead of the final stages of the tournament,” Fearnley concluded.
