STARNBERG, October 26, 2026
Germany will be led by Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff at the Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna, with team captain Michael Kohlmann announcing his initial squad for the season-ending team competition, which takes place from November 24 to 29.
Alongside the two singles players, Kohlmann has selected the established doubles pairing of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz. The fifth and final spot in the German line-up will remain vacant for the time being and is expected to be announced at a later date.
For Zverev, it will be his second consecutive appearance at the Final 8. Despite an exhausting season, the German number one has once again committed to representing his country on the international stage.
Struff, meanwhile, heads to Bologna in impressive form. The 36-year-old recently reached his first ATP Tour final of the year at the European Open in Brussels. His run to the title match also sees him return to the world’s top 50, underlining his credentials ahead of the demanding challenges in Italy.
“We have a strong team with great quality, plenty of experience and players who know how to handle pressure. With Sascha, we have the best player in the world at the moment. Kevin and Tim consistently perform at the highest level in doubles, while Jan-Lennard has underlined his excellent form with his recent run to the final in Brussels,” Kohlmann said.
“Considering the demanding season he has had, Sascha’s willingness to represent Germany once again is by no means something to be taken for granted. It shows how important the team is to him. We know how closely contested the Final 8 can be and that the smallest details can make all the difference in decisive moments. We want to draw on our experience from previous years, prepare as thoroughly as possible and seize our opportunity to challenge for the title in Bologna. We are deliberately leaving the fifth spot open for now so that we can take developments over the coming weeks into account before making our decision.”
Germany To Face Great Britain In Quarterfinals
Germany will face Great Britain in the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 26, with the tie scheduled to begin at 10:00 am local time. Should Kohlmann’s team progress, they will meet either Spain or Austria in the semi-finals on Saturday, November 28. The final is scheduled for the following day.
Germany secured its place in the Final 8 with a convincing 4-0 victory over Peru in February, followed by a 3-1 win against Croatia in September. The team will therefore compete in the final stage of the prestigious national team competition for the third consecutive year.
