Oscar Otte lifted his first trophy of the season, winning the 9th edition of the Überlingen Open last Sunday. The 23-year-old German won the final in hot conditions against the tournament’s number two Alexander Lazov from Bulgaria 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.

Otte sent down nine aces and capitalized on six of his 13 break point opportunities to seal victory in two hours and 36 minutes. Otte ousted David Simunek, Wilson Leite, Jean-Marc Werner and top seed Peter Torebko en-route to the title of the $10,000 ITF Future event. It was the fifth international career title for the man, who was crowned Germany’s National Champion last December.

“It was extremeley hot. I am really happy to close the match out,” said Otte after the battle. “My opponent did not make many mistakes but I pushed a lot of pressure on him.”

Otte took away $1,440 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. “I hope that I will be able to play more Challengers in the nearer future,” the man from Cologne told and is going to continue his journey at the €42,500 event in Alphen aan den Rijn next week.

Later the day, Otte also captured the doubles title alongside his partner Tom Schonenberg. The German tandem eased past Maurizo Echazu from Peru and again Alexander Lazov, winning 6-1, 6-0 in only 48 minutes.
