Quarterfinal matches were played on Friday at the WTA National Bank Cup presented by Mazda at PEPS on the campus of Laval University in Quebec City.

In the first match of the day, Oceane Dodin advanced to the first WTA semifinal of her career thanks to a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Belgium’s Alison Van Uytcanck. The Frenchwoman is enjoying playing on the quick indoor court at PEPS.

“It’s a surface that isn’t used at many tournaments, I love playing on it because it suits my game,” Dodin said. “I won my first match on the WTA Tour this week and now I have won three in a row, so I am very confident for the rest of the tournament.” Dodin will face US-American Julia Boserup in Saturday’s semi-finals. Boserup topped her compatriot Catherine Bellis 7-6(0), 6-4 in the quarters.

In the top half of the draw, US-American qualifier Lauren Davis improved to 4-0 against Alla Kudryavtseva after defeating the Russian 6-3, 7-6(4). She will go up against fellow qualifier Tereza Matincova in the semis after the Czech got the better of US-American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-6(7).
