It’s down to the final two at the National Bank Cup presented by Mazda, a WTA International Series event at PEPS on the campus of Laval University in Quebec City.

Océane Dodin of France, ranked no. 132 in the world, won Saturday’s first semi-final 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 over US-American Julia Boserup to reach to her first career WTA final. The 19-year-old utilized an aggressive style of play and a big serve, which produced 17 aces, to advance in one hour and 44 minutes.

“I’m just very, very happy to be in my first final,” Dodin said. “It’s a pleasure to be here in Québec. It’s like France so it helped me so much!”

She is coached by her father Frederic Dodin. “My dad always tells me that I have to be very aggressive,” Dodin said, explaining how she rallied back after losing the second set. “But sometimes with my nervousness, I’m not. So I look at him and he’s like, ‘Go! Go! Go!’ So it helps me so much and I stay focused.”

Dodin will meet Lauren Davis for the title after the US-American defeated Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-2 in the second semi-final. The encounter lasted two hours and 25 minutes. Davis, ranked no. 104 in the world, has already won six matches this week after having to qualify for the main draw last weekend.

The doubles championship match will see the top-seeded Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka go up against the Russian pair of Alla Kudryavtseva and Alexandra Panova.
