Chris Kermode, chairman and president of the ATP, had already announced one year ago that a tournament for the best players aged under 21 should be held in the week between the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris Bercy and the ATP World Tour Finals in London. New details have now been revealed, as the event will take place in Milan in November 2017.

The last ATP tournament held in the capital of industrial design, fashion and architecture, was in 2005 when Robin Söderling of Sweden captured the title. According to Italian media, the event will have a total prize money of $500,000 and will be played in round robin format with two groups followed by the knock out stages with semi-finals and the final. The season’s best seven under 21-players will be automatically qualified joined by one Italian wild card, who has to battle through a pre-qualifying tournament with seven of his compatriots.

Tournament director will be Sergio Palmieri, who is also the head of the WTA Premier event in Rome. The 70-year-old told the Italian newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” that the tournament should be played inside the PalaLido Arena with a capacity of 5,000 places.

Alexander Zverev of Germany would lead the current entry list, ranked world No. 21. He would be joined by Croatian Borna Coric, Karen Khachanov from Russia, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Jared Donaldson from the United States. Daniil Medvedev of Russia would be the seventh competitor.
