Diego Schwartzman is the champion of the $50,000 Uruguay Open held at the Carrasco Lawnt Tennis Club in Montevideo. The World No. 52 from Argentina defeated Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil in Sunday’s final 6-4, 6-1.

Schwartzman, who finished runner-up to Thomaz Bellucci in 2013, won 62 per cent of his first service points and capitalized on six of his 11 break point chances to prevail in one hour and 15 minutes. By claiming his seventh ATP Challenger Title, the 24-year-old from Buenos Aires earns $7,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP Ranking points.

Earlier the season, Schwartzman lifted his maiden trophy on the ATP World Tour, winning the title in Istanbul. He also triumphed at the Barranquilla Challenger in September. Schwartzman’s title is also an ATP Challenger record-tying 20th in a season for Argentina. 10 different players from the South American country captured 20 titles in 29 finals.
