After the ATP World Tour season has come to an end with Andy Murray winning the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London last Sunday, the ATP Challenger Tour will find its 2016 conclusion this week with three tournaments.
Besides the events held in Columbus and Astana, one of them is the €42,500 Andria E Castel Del Monte Challenger executed on hardcourt indoors at the Palasport in Andria, a city in Apulia, Southern Italy. Former World No. 5 Tommy Robredo entered the main draw with a wild card and defeated Salvatore Caruso from Italy in his first round match 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The 34-year-old Spaniard won 83 per cent of his first service points and converted four of his six break point opportunities to prevail in one hour and 35 minutes. Robredo will next take on Italian Gianluca Mager.
On Monday, top seed Sergiy Stakhovsky opened his Andria campaign with 6-1, 7-5 win over Czech Zdenek Kolar. The World No. 115 from the Ukraine finished the encounter in 61 minutes to face Andrea Arnaboldi of Italy in the second round.
