Mannarino Defends Noumea Challenger Title

NOUMEA, January 8, 2017

For the 14th consecutive year, the French territory of New Caledonia kicked off the season on the ATP Challenger Tour. The island paradise, located off the eastern coast of Australia, welcomed players to the Ligue de Tennis du Ouen-Toro in the capital city of Noumea.

First seed Adrian Mannarino, who was the only player ranked inside the top 100 of the main draw, defended his 2016 title with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Nikola Milojevic of Serbia on Saturday. The World No. 60 from France  sent down four aces and capitalized on four of his eight break point chances to prevail in one hour and 32 minutes.

On Friday, the top seeds of the doubles draw, Frenchemen Quentin Halys and Tristan Lamsine, defeated Adrian Menendez Maceiras of Spain and Italian Stefano Napolitano 7-6, 6-1 to claim the title. The encounter lasted one hour and 35 minutes.
