MEERBUSCH, May 23, 2017
Organizers of the Bucher Reisen Tennis Grand Prix met the media at the headquarters of the tour operator in Meerbusch last Wednesday presenting the ATP Challenger event’s 2017 programme. The fifth edition of the €43,000 plus Hospitality event will be held from from 12 to 20 August. The tennis action will move from the Sportpark Büderich to the venue of the tennis club Grün-Weiss-Rot Büderich (GWR).
“This will help us making the areas for players and visitors appear more spacious,” tournament director Marc Raffel explained the relocation. “We are looking forward to the event,” Robert Bertlin, president of the GWR added.
The organizers also announced a couple of side events taking place during the week such as the ABBA Revival Show attracting visitors on August 18. The entry list of players will be released four weeks ahead of the start of the tournament. Defending champion is Florian Mayer, who mastered fellow German Maximilian Marterer in last year’s singles final.
“Players can earn more ATP ranking points than ever before. Consequently, we expect in 2017 an even better line-up than in previous years,” told Raffel.
