Altuna/Safranek Take Doubles Title
Earlier in the day, Tuna Altuna from Turkey and Vaclav Safranek of the Czech Republic clinched the doubles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over the Indian tandem N. Sriram Balaji and N Vijay Sundar Prashanth. The final lasted exactly one hour.
“Vaclav normally plays singles but he is also a great doubles player. Teaming up here together this week obviously worked out very well. We are very happy,” Altuna told after winning their maiden ATP Challenger title.
“I lost in the opening round in singles, so I started to focus on doubles. Taking the doubles title here is a big surprise for me,” Safranek added.
